Employee OR Employer Value Proposition

Employee OR Employer Value Proposition

Employee OR Employer Value Proposition

EVP stands for Employer Value Proposition or Employee Value Proposition.  It’s a classic case of tomato/tomahto, potato/potahto or is there really a significant difference? It’s a very people-driven concept and can attract candidates who love the idea of supporting it. Some search engine results show that different markets and geographical locations will use the word ‘Employer’, while other searches use ‘Employee’ when stating what the ‘E’ stands for in the EVP.

EVP

Simply put, an EVP  is the ‘perks’ of working at your company. It is the value that the employer gives their employees in exchange for their time and the work they do. And it just might be the very reason an employee chooses to work at your company rather than at a competitor.

Employer Brand

Every company has an Employer Brand, whether they like it or not, whether they are improving it or restructuring it, or whether they even know it or not. With that said, a company can only partly control their Employer Brand. What they do have full control of is their Employer Value Proposition, which is the tool used to influence the Employer Brand. Look at it this way, EVP is a promise between an employer and a potential applicant. It is what the company and culture can offer the applicant, in exchange for their talent, skills, and experience.

Employee Value

An employee value proposition is important because it tells a candidate what they’ll get in return for working with the company.  When communicating the experience of working at that organization, those companies can attract candidates that are more of a natural fit and value the benefits they’ll receive.

The Whole Package

The list of what ‘todays’ applicants search for in an employer goes on and on. It can include, work-life balance, hybrid work models, diversity and inclusion, training and development, compensation, and benefits.  However, something that is important to one employee, might not be so important to another. That means a company must constantly change and develop their Employer/Employee Value Proposition.

A Strong Competitor

Having a strong EVP will make your company stand out from your competitors and it’s relevant to your employees’ wants and needs. It should represent your company’s values and make your employees feel proud, motivated, and encouraged to do their best work each day.  It is a prerequisite for any company to win the never-ending battle of attracting, recruiting, and retaining talent
