National Picnic Month
July is an excellent time for National Picnic Month. The fresh air stirs the appetite, and garden vegetables and fruits make outdoor eating easier. The American Bakers’ Association founded National Picnic Month in 1952.
Picnic or Piquenique?
The word picnic comes from the French word piquenique. Picnics go back to mid-18th-century and to al fresco French dining. A bottle of wine, a loaf of bread, some cheese and fruit made for an instant meal under the sky.
Packing a Picnic
When we pack them right, picnics make life simple. Thanks to all the finger foods the clean-up is usually easy. A simple packed picnic basket is a great way spend more time visiting with friends and family while enjoying the sunshine.
Keep it Simple
Whether we pack picnics for tailgating, an afternoon or a weekend get-a-way, picnics are a great way to enjoy friends and family. Just keep it simple and focus on the company. Sandwiches, finger foods, and beverages may seem plain, but a picnic is more about spending time with each other and being in nature.
