The Accidental Heir

The Accidental Heir

Queen Elizabeth II

A hush went over the crowd today when the announcement filtered through. Everyone was glued to their phones.  The crowd, from all over the world, started whispering the news to each other.  Then there was a hush in the crowd.  There was shock. There were tears.  She wasn’t born to be Queen but she was indeed the accidental heir that defined the phrase dedication to service.

A Reign that defined an Era

She became queen by a twist of fate but now on September 8, 2022 at age 96, Elizabeth II has passed.   Queen Elizabeth will be remembered for many things but will first be known as Britain’s longest-serving monarch, in a reign spanning the post-war era through to the digital age, more than 70 years.  Queen Elizabeth reigned longer than her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria, who held the throne for 63 years and 216 days.  She was more than a monarch.  She defined an Era…

Married for Love

In 1947, at the age of 21 Elizabeth married the man she had been smitten with for years.
