Manufacturing Sustainability Part 2
The most successful manufacturing companies in 2022 and beyond will be the ones that are quicker to adapt to uncertainties. A transformation of the entire manufacturing system will most likely be required. Economically-sound processes will need to be addressed in order for any manufacturing sustainability and production of goods.
Climate Change & Sustainability
It’s never been more important to pursue sustainability in the manufacturing industry. In August 2021, the U.N. climate panel reported that a 1.5 degrees Celsius rise in temperatures is the most that humanity could survive without a massive upheaval. And to date, a 1.1 degrees Celsius rise has already been recorded.
ESG
According to Manufacturers Alliance, “ESG” are frameworks used to assess the impact of a company’s sustainability, ethical practices, financial performance and operations. For ESG and net-zero initiatives, integration of sustainable practices into business is now needed to reduce our carbon footprint.
Sustainability Goals
Sustainable manufacturing is good for business. Reducing overall energy consumption and carbon emissions has become a main area of focus for the manufacturing industry. As well as the importance to secure compliance with stricter emissions regulations and targets. By doing so, they also anticipate a carbon price and need to adjust to a new energy mix.
Not Just A Trend
Sustainable manufacturing is not just a trend. Customers are buying more high-quality parts and products from companies that are easier on the planet. One-fifth of the world’s carbon emissions come from the manufacturing and production sectors. Company’s can bring sustainability into manufacturing now by using recyclable materials and bioplastics and adopting the circular economy. As well as digital manufacturing, and implementing renewable energy processes throughout operations.
